No matter what your dental issues are, from chips and cracks to missing teeth, our team has the skill and experience to restore health and beauty to your smile. At Jason L. Downey, DDS, we offer a variety of restorative dentistry options for patients in Las Vegas, Summerlin, and the surrounding communities.
From root canal therapy to dental implants, we can create a treatment plan to give you the smile you desire.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy is a restorative dentistry procedure that can be performed to salvage a severely infected tooth. Although root canal therapy has a reputation for being an uncomfortable procedure, we are able to make it as pain and stress-free as possible, thanks to the advanced dental technology featured in our office.
Root canal therapy involves removing infected pulp at the center of a tooth. After examining x-rays of your tooth to determine the level of decay or infection, Dr. Downey will anesthetize the area surrounding the damaged tooth and clean out the bacteria and debris from inside the tooth.
Once the infection is removed, the tooth will be sealed. In most cases, a crown will be placed to protect it from further damage. At Jason L. Downey, DDS, we are often able to perform root canal therapy and prepare the tooth for a crown during the same appointment thanks to our CEREC machine.

Fillings
Fillings are used to replace parts of a tooth that have become decayed. Jason L. Downey, DDS offers both gold and tooth-colored fillings. Dr. Downey will recommend a material to you based on his professional experience and your preferences.
To place the filling, the decayed portion of the tooth will be removed, and the tooth will be thoroughly cleaned. Next the filling material will be placed and bonded in the prepared tooth. The filling will be trimmed and polished to complement the shape and texture of your natural teeth.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns cover the entire surface of a tooth like a cap. A durable porcelain crown can be used to restore the strength of a decayed or damaged tooth. We can even use a crown to hold a dental bridge in place. In addition to the restorative dentistry uses for dental crowns, they can also restore the beauty of a tooth.
To place a dental crown, we first take an x-ray to determine the extent of tooth decay. In some cases, a severely decayed tooth may require root canal therapy before we can place the crown. Dr. Downey will prepare the tooth to accommodate the crown.
We will then take an impression of the tooth and surrounding teeth. The technicians at our dental laboratory will use this impression to custom-craft the crown to ensure a perfect fit. When your crown is ready, it will be adjusted to sit comfortably in your mouth, where it will be bonded in place.
If you would like a same-day restoration, ask us about our CEREC machine, a remarkable device that helps us produce and place crowns in a single visit!

Dental Bridges
Dental bridges fill in gaps left by missing teeth to restore the appearance and function of a full set of teeth. A bridge is composed of a replacement tooth that is placed in the gap and held in place by crowns attached to the remaining teeth on either side.
Bridges facilitate proper chewing and speaking and help prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of alignment. In addition to the restorative benefits of bridges, they also offer many cosmetic benefits. Dentures
Today’s dentures are more durable and realistic than ever before. These appliances are custom-made for each individual and designed to restore the appearance and function of your smile.
Our doctors can fit you with a traditional denture or one that is supported by dental implants for much greater stability. Dentures can restore your oral function and allow you to experience a better quality of life!
Dental Implants
Dental implants are often the ideal choice for replacing missing teeth. A dental implant is a titanium post that serves as a replacement tooth root. Once it is surgically placed in the patient’s jawbone, a natural-looking tooth is attached below the gum line to restore your smile.
We perform full-service implant dentistry at our practice, including the surgical placement of implants and the attachment of replacement teeth. Please visit our dental implant page to learn more about this exciting restorative dentistry option for replacing missing teeth!
